Dynamics 365 Enterprise is now even a better value for businesses with the recent new feature release, Custom Fields. This feature allows any user with security to add custom fields to form windows. I am amazed daily by the depth of Dynamics 365 Enterprise and the constant flow of new features in an already feature rich environment. Now with this latest feature there is very little this solution can not do. In fact we had an all day presentation recently and the prospect had spent the previous day on a SAP demonstration. We got immediate feedback that Dynamics 365 Enterprise was easier to navigate and more user friendly than SAP. Not only was the prospect impressed, but the consulting firm they hired to help them evaluate ERP solutions agreed. The consultant also stated that they were very impressed by the deep functionality of Dynamics 365 Enterprise.

One of the most common questions we get from prospects is why should they rent Dynamics 365 in the Cloud/SaaS deployment versus purchasing and installing it on premise. This decision should be based on each individual business, however I will say that at this point more customers are moving to the cloud than they are installing the software on-site. Here are some some reasons to utilize the SaaS version of Dynamics 365 Enterprise for Finance and Operations in the Microsoft Cloud.

Cover Yourself in the Security of Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 guards your data by employing Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security protecting your company, your employees, and your data.

To help companies avoid the problems of phishing, and other corporate crimes, Dynamics 365 includes Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) protecting you even if using single sign on log-in. As if phishing, worms, and viruses didn’t cause enough problems for any CIO or CFO, in manufacturing protecting your digital assets is more complicated as there are so many different digital records from engineering to customer service, and as such the data is more voluminous. To make matters worse, now, manufacturers and job shops must protect themselves from ransomware.  The stories have been blasted all over the headlines during the last few months; The Week Magazine's January 13th edition distilled the news reporting that 300+ executives admitted to being affected by ransomware.  And of those 300 executives, 70% said their companies relinquished between $20 thousand and $40 thousand dollars to unlock their data to evade losing 100s of thousands of dollars in business information. However, there is help in the constant battle of protecting your data in the cloud.  Security is made easier in the cloud with Dynamics 365 that includes EMS.  To show how this is facilitated we have broken down the most common acronyms, and the components included.

6 Reasons to Choose An On-Premise ERP like Dynamics AX

November 22, 2016 / 0 Comments / in Microsoft Dynamics AX, ERP Software, Cloud ERP SaaS, Dynamics 365 for Operations / by Anita Smallwood

Updated 023/01/2017: John F. Kennedy once said, "Change is the law of life."  This law is not being broken in the ERP world, especially since the release of Microsoft's Cloud ERP solution called Dynamics 365.  Even though Dynamics 365 is the newest release; the purpose of this blog, "6 Reasons to Choose On-Premise ERP" is to examine why it may be preferable to implement Dynamics AX On-Premise.  We have compared and contrasted Microsoft's On-Premise software versus the Cloud solution, as well as delineated how to purchase any of the Microsoft Products below.

While there is convenience and flexibility that comes with cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) technology in particular Dynamics 365, the technology requires applications or apps to deliver some of the functionality once given by Value Added Resellers.  Let me explain further, if your business needs customizations, the code could be changed in AX by your VAR or Microsoft Partner.  Dynamics 365 on the other hand is encapsulated, and any desired changes are made through apps. Even though the cloud platform bounds with connectivity given by Microsoft Dynamics 365 common data model, doubters continue to worry about the vulnerabilities inherent in Cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT). Like discussed briefly earlier, on-premise ERP platforms, offer a higher ability to customize specific features tailored just for your business.

No More Getting Lost in Tabs with New Dynamics AX Cloud ERP

June 30, 2016 / 0 Comments / in Microsoft Dynamics AX, ERP Software, Cloud ERP SaaS / by Anita Smallwood

No more getting lost in cloud ERP software with new Dynamics AX (7) Workspaces.  While I love cloud technology and not having to worry about IT Infrastructure or system requirements though sometimes in my job function my browser becomes a clogged up window of tabs, tabs, tabs. My browser’s tab bar looks like a bottom row of teeth that are overcrowded. Not to mention that I forget what tab I was on. Then when I do find the tab, I get distracted by the content. “Look, there is a squirrel!” Finally, I get back to what I was supposed to be doing. . .five minutes ago.

New Dynamics AX feature: Workspaces

Workspaces in the new Dynamics AX are designed to remove this stop and start process in productivity in that the new feature keeps the top 5 functions related to a user’s job function always accessible in a single window.
