Dynamics AX Customers Upgrade  FAQs

DYNAMICS AX CUSTOMERS UPGRADE

Existing Dynamics AX customers are probably getting bombarded with email from Microsoft about Dynamics 365 Enterprise for Finance and Operations.   Sometimes these communications can end up not addressing your questions, but do peak your interest.  Here is a brief summary of some of the reasons you should start the review process, and why you should get started now since this is the absolute best release of Dynamics AX - now named Dynamics 365 Enterprise.

Discounts: Customers on annual maintenance are eligible for a discount when upgrading or transitioning to Dynamics 365.  Please read more here: Existing Customer's Transition

Ease of Use: Nucleus Research recently named Dynamics 365 as Leader in Ease of User and Functionality.  Nucleus Research is the only technology research firm to gain registration with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, which ensures all research will withstand even the most detailed financial review.  In other words, they are experts in research.

Mobile Apps and Tools: The mobile app enables your organization to make its business processes available on mobile devices. Watch this short video of Hope Enochs creating a mobile app.  Hope learned how to create the mobile app with Microsoft documentation and recorded this video in an afternoon.

Microsoft Cloud:  The Cloud Services Description document outlines the service model, operations such as monitoring and backups, performance, when upgrades are required, and the SLA for the SaaS subscription.  Note that you are only required to upgrade to the latest release once a year. The move to the cloud with more agile servicing and frequent updates requires a less intrusive customization model, which makes updates less likely to impact custom solutions. This new model is called extensibility and will ultimately replace customization by over layering.

Updated Reporting Tools and Power BI:  There are many improvements to the reporting tools with Dynamics 365.  Excel can now be used to import data!  You can read more here: What's New in Dynamics 365 Reporting Tools

There are many more reasons to upgrade and we would be pleased to review the impact this transition would have on your business.  Reach out to us to schedule a time to discuss your options.
