When Comparing Usability with NetSuite VS Acumatica, the Winner Is...
In this blog, we're evaluating the usability of two leading cloud ERP solutions, NetSuite vs Acumatica Cloud ERP, with more details in the whitepaper based on a Fall 2023 G2 report below. The significance of an ERP system's user-friendliness cannot be emphasized enough. The ease of software usability directly impacts user adoption, the success of training programs, employee retention, and overall staff productivity.
NetSuite vs Acumatica - UsabilitY
The more team members utilizing a new ERP system, the smoother and more effective the company's operations become. The time savings, productivity boosts, and integrations eliminate the need for offline workarounds, making the investment worthwhile. In our decades of experience, the system needs to be user-friendly to be adopted and realize the ROI of such a major expense. This blog may sound biased towards Acumatica because it's our ERP of choice. We are certified consultants for Acumatica, not NetSuite, for the user-friendly interface, integration capability, customization and more.
Acumatica Usability
Acumatica empowers users to create and adjust workflow processes using an intuitive visual engine. Users have complete control over dashboards, forms, tables, and event triggers within their workspace. The system enables users to generate reports and conduct custom analyses, attaching documents to any screen for reference. Acumatica's reputation for usability leaves users eager to engage with the software, making work a delight rather than a chore.
Acumatica has built-in wikis that facilitate seamless communication and information sharing across the organization, while color-coded prompts simplify task completion. Integration with Adobe PDF files allows users to annotate directly on attachments, and real-time collaboration through Microsoft Teams enables quick discussions on emerging issues.
High usability and flexibility help future-proof the system by adapting it to support your changing business for years. Acumatica’s modern architecture allows modifications without developers’ time and cost. As your business processes evolve, Acumatica fosters those changes with an adaptable, next-generation platform so you create and retain competitive differentiation as a company. Since 75% of Acumatica staff works on research and development, semi-annual updates pack significant enhancements into every release—many result from direct feedback from our customers and ecosystem community.
Acumatica's pricing model allows for unlimited users and encourages all team members to access and collaborate within its ERP applications. The cost makes it easy for growing companies to get started because you only pay for the applications you need, transaction volumes and data storage. Here are some comments from our customer Saddleback Leather success story who switched from NetSuite to Acumatica for many of the reasons above. We are very proud of their recent success with Toyota!
Munson began researching ERPs and financial systems, including Sage and Microsoft. But he kept hearing from others that these legacy systems were retrofitted to work in the cloud, required more work, and were clunky.
Then a CEO friend suggested Acumatica, which fit all his requirements. “Everyone kept pointing us to Acumatica because of its pricing, aggressive development, and how user friendly it was,” Munson says.

Here's a few highlights from this success story:
NetSuite Usability
Acumatica's reputation for outstanding usability as the leading ERP suite, acknowledged by G2 and Nucleus Research, is no surprise. In contrast, NetSuite users say there's room for improvement in NetSuite's usability. Users have highlighted the need for a more intuitive system, easier navigation, simplified screens, and streamlined processes. Enhancing standard reports, making report customization more user-friendly, and addressing performance issues and system outages are key steps to further enhancing the user experience in NetSuite.
NetSuite's usability is affected by the need for proprietary coding to make customizations. Their "SuiteScript," a version of standard Java, requires formal training, which might be a hurdle for customers without in-house expertise. On the other hand, Acumatica's Microsoft-based .NET development environment uses a standard programming language and is widely accessible. Some NetSuite users have expressed frustration with the slow pace of product improvements. Delays in introducing critical features can be inconvenient for the users.
