Microsoft just released cumulative update 11 for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3. The cumulative update adds new benefits to Dynamics AX in their time saving abilities, as well as better functionality for mobile devices and financial performance improvements. One of the most compelling reasons to download the AX 2012 R3 CU 11 upgrade includes its compatibility with Office 2016.
We have highlighted some of the most important fixes and enhancements that pertain to financial management, retail, and warehouse and transportation management below.
Financial Management Functionality Upgrades:
Some of the financial management changes in CU11 make working in a multi-company accounting department easier.
- The newest functionality lets you view and update all legal entities
that use the same fiscal calendars in one view. You no longer have to
switch companies multiple times. - A field for Journal legal entity has been added to the
LedgerJournalTable table, so you can now create a daily journal from
any company, for any company, all without changing the company that you are working in.
Retail Functionality Upgrades:
The retail function revisions include time and money saving functionality, as well as the ability to provide better customer service. This includes:
- Improved postal code address validation
- Channel price priority
- Loyalty cards can be seen at call centers and can be tied into quotes and orders.
Warehouse and Transportation Management Functionality Upgrades:
A majority of the modifications make mobile device data entry more intuitive, such as:
- There is a new mobile device menu item for registering material
consumption. - You can now report items as finished by using End job on the hand-held devices. When you report a production order as finished by using the End job option, the production order status is updated to Reported as finished. This status indicates that no more finished goods will be reported, and no more time and material will be consumed by the order. Therefore, any inventory transactions that have remaining quantities for both materials and finished goods will be cleaned up.
- There is a new mobile device menu item for reporting as finished by
serial number. - A new option in the TMS (transportation management system) parameters form lets you automatically create a master BOL when there is more than one shipment on a load.
One important element to note is that Master Data Management (MDM) is not supported with the SQL Server 2016.
The upgrade is now available to customers for download on Lifecycle Services, CustomerSource and PartnerSource. The Cumulative Update 11 build number is 6.3.4000.127. To download CU11 from LCS, select an R3 project and click the updates tile.
