Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management 2023 release wave 1 includes some exciting new functionality to enable manufacturers, distributors and retailers to meet their supply chain requirements. 1. Inventory and Logistics

Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management enables businesses to manage their sales and fulfillment processes efficiently. The inventory and logistics capabilities help you ensure inventory is sufficient to fulfill current service levels. Investments in this area focus on giving your business increased visibility, more efficiency, and better resiliency in your supply chain operations. Highlights include the abilities to:

  • Easily plan and manage omnichannel sales prices with price attributes on segments including customers, products, and orders
  • Make soft reservations right from a sales order, easily maintaining a single source of truth for omnichannel fulfillment
  • Project order promising with fulfillment dates up to 3 months in the future
  • Utilize standard cost with the Global Inventory Accounting Add-in for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management to assess costs in discrete manufacturing
  • Update and manage data more efficiently and see near-real-time insights into current and forecasted inventory availability and levels
  • Archive inventory transactions and sales orders. The system will ingest data into your data lake for historical reporting while boosting performance day-to-day to lower operating costs

2. Warehouse Management

The Warehouse Management enhancements simplify configurations. Ultimately, your teams will reduce implementation time, and the company will gain insights into the performance and utilization of the warehouse management system. In the warehouse, teams get usability and productivity enhancements including better GS1 barcode support, improved packing features and iOS device support.

3. Manufacturing and Asset Management

In this release, the focus is on improving the user experience for better agility and front-line efficiency. A newly reimagined mobile experience for maintenance operations simplifies daily. Relevant information and insights are readily available when and where they’re needed most. Supervisors in manufacturing will see enhanced capabilities for assessing materials inventory prior to releasing new production orders to the shop floor.

4. Procurement and Planning

Updates in the procurement functionality were designed to help your organization achieve a resilient supply chain operation. As well, this release includes updated functionality to enhance the accuracy and integrity of your vendors’ bank account information.

Planning Optimization provides significant improvements to performance and scalability in Release Wave 1. Enhancements add support for more scenarios for manufacturers who use a combination of discrete and light-process manufacturing. Make-to-order manufacturers will get functionality to help manage schedule changes more easily.
